The Comox Valley Art Gallery is public art gallery featuring contemporary, experimental and applied art by regional, national and international artists presenting contemporary art issues and practices.

Our mission is:

  • To foster the awareness, exploration and development of contemporary visual arts through exhibitions, education activities and projects. 
  • To be an educating facility presenting contemporary art issues and practices in the form of artists talks, panel discussions, workshops and symposiums. 
  • To facilitate an experience for visitors to have a new or increased understanding of the visual arts that is accessible and inspiring yet also challenging, thought provoking, and energizing. 
  • To benefit the entire community by contributing to the cultural, social and economic vitality of the Comox Valley through our activities.

Your thoughts on the Arts
How are we involved in the arts in the Valley?
In addition to presenting visual art exhibitions and programs, we love partnering with our local community on projects! Here’s some examples of past and present projects: co-presentation of The Comox Valley Living City Challenge, entered a float in the Canada Day parade, Get Your Arts Outside! during the CV Classic Cruisers Show N Shine, co-hosted the inaugural North Island Curatorial Round Table, co-presented KidsFest, co-presented Alberta in a Box: Wide Open, co-presented the Significant Dream Project, co-host ElderCollege courses with North Island College, co-host Summer Student Intern Program: Young Canada Works and Canada Summer Jobs, co-presented Capturing the Spirit of the Festival with Vancouver Island MusicFest & Comox Valley Community Arts Council, co-presented the Harry Potter Book 6 & 7 launch with Laughing Oyster Books and there are many more upcoming projects on the go!
