The Comox Valley is warmly invited to be part of a special benefit night dedicated to supportive housing efforts in the Comox Valley on Thursday December 14th at the Waverley Hotel.
Join Elevate the Arts and a host of musicians, friends and neighbours for a night of music, compassion, kindness, joy, knowledge building and connection! 100% of funds raised go to Dawn to Dawn Action on Homelessness and the Comox Valley Transition Society.
Did you know there is currently NO publicly funded supportive housing in the Comox Valley for those dealing with mental health, disability, addiction, recovery, or the formerly homeless to live with dignity in our community? Join us in raising our voices, raising funds, and focusing our advocacy for change. The closest thing we have to supportive housing in the Comox Valley (housing with staff support) is managed by community organizations with bare bone budgets who rely on donations and goodwill from local property owners. This is a massive load for local non profits to carry alone and they need our support.
‘Where the Heart Is’ will feature non stop music from 7:00-12:30. Admission by donation. $2 from every Philips or Hoyne Beer goes to the pot. Performers confirmed for the special community event include PK Tessmann, Henri Fabergé, Chad Pabianek, The Wits, Helen Austin, Amy Muloin, Tereza Tomek, Reesa Schorno, Jilli Martini with Farley & Kat, Kevin Jay Flesher, Anela Kahiamoe, Emily Cars and Perseverance Creek. Cash donations of any size are requested at the door. In-kind donations for special draw baskets can be delivered to Rare Bird Books or Tarbells Deli in Cumberland up until end of day December 13th. Larger items ($200 + value) for Online Silent Auction can be directed to grant@cedarsurf.com. The Dawn to Dawn Online Silent Auction will run until December 31st and directly support costs of managing direct costs related to housing they facilitate.
