Kazimea Sokil

Kazimea has been working with music and special needs adults & seniors since 1999, and taught children’s music and movement classes in alternative schools in Victoria, Courtenay and Comox.

As a parent she always found music a source of great joy and a wonderful way to play with her own young children. I love the Music Together curriculum and the quality of its materials and songwriting. The sessions are warm, friendly, and inclusive. I’m so excited to bring this program to the Comox Valley, and I’m happy to share the Music Together experience at Elevate the Arts.

What the Arts mean in my life/To my company?
The arts are a big part of how I find meaning and joy in my life. I come to music and other arts for recreation, fun, interaction, peace, challenge and fulfillment. In most situations, I like to give the process of music-making a lot of emphasis over the product. What would the world be without the arts? Sad, dull and shut-off. We would lose a major way to think creatively and critically. I think as the world shifts into this new century, we will be seeing more and more appreciation for art and art-making as a critical piece of human culture, and as a foundational block for community and personal/individual health.

How are we involved in the arts in the Valley?
TreeFrog Music offers private and group music lessons for kids and grown-ups, interactive children’s events and performances. We also offer Music Together (R) classes in several locations around the Valley. These group classes are for babies & preschoolers, and the
grown-ups who love them, and they are PURE FUN!
