Cultivated in Cumberland in late spring of 2022, the members of Ofcosmos came together to create songs that are inspired by folk music from Eastern Europe, Western Europe, West Africa, America and Jamaica. Using percussive instruments, guitars, Irish bouzouki, bass and fronted with powerful and alluring female vocals, Ofcosmos sounds everything and nothing like what brought them together. With song themes that range from love, sorrow, revolution, demonic happenings, self-help and sounds that energize, hypnotize, calms and yet provoke moments of fear, one can’t help but find a moment of Ofcosmos that is for them.
suffer fools is a conceptual project centered on D Debased: former child star, current trainwreck, future pop messiah. Based in the Comox Valley, suffer fools brings together elements of shoegaze, dream pop, darkwave, and trap production in a distinctly postmodern synthesis. suffer fools’ debut album – ‘The Rise & Fall of D Debased’ – was released on Factotum Cassettes & Oddities in October 2021. The record is a meditation on celebrity, the pursuit of happiness, and the violent individualism & narcissism at the core of Western culture. Plans for a follow-up album are in the works, with a tentative release date of fall 2023.
