About the Play
Mamahood: turn and face the strange was first developed as a short monologue called “Mama’s Night Out” and was selected to be performed in a cabaret called ‘Wild Women’ to celebrate International Women’s Day produced by Sarasvati Productions in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2013.
This monologue was the starting point for writing the full show, it was then selected to be fully developed as part of “The You Show” produced by Intrepid Theatre (Victoria Fringe Festival) as a staged reading followed by audience feedback on May 18/2013.
This play has received 2 public readings through the Playwrights Guild of Canada & Canada Council for the Arts Playwrights Reading program: May 2, 2014 as part of the 2nd annual Kaleidoscope Family Theatre Festival in Victoria BC and June 12, 2014 at the Nanaimo Theatre Group in Nanaimo BC.
In March 17-/ 2015 Mamahood: turn and face the strange received its premiere production with Theatre One’s Welcome to Parenthood Festival at the Malaspina Theatre in Nanaimo BC.
