(A kids writing workshop/playshop)

Whether you’re an aspiring poet, budding novelist, or just want to giggle and invent some new jump-rope rhymes, this workshop is for you! Designed for kids (and kids-at-heart) of all ages, especially those daydreamer bookworms and those who like to write, this drop-in style class will give you the opportunity to dip your toes in a variety of literary genres, using play-oriented activities to further develop your unique storyteller’s voice and superpowers of imagination and perception.

*Please bring a sense of curiosity, your favorite notebook and writing utensil if you have them, and anything else that inspires you.

Toni Hiatt is a writer, musician, and language educator who holds a BFA in Creative Writing and Anthropology from UVIC. Her writing most-often comprises of stories and rhymes that swoop and swirl around themes of nature, lore, and magic.  She is passionate about facilitating experiences of empowerment, expression, and connection through the creative use of language and sound.  You can also catch her in action Saturday throwing down some weird mermaid-electronic vocals with her band Cathedral Bloom!
